The Baby Shower That Let Love Lead

Corinne was planning a shower for her baby brother’s first child…a baby girl. She found us while on her search for a place that meant something, not just a place that looked the part. Norwood Vineyard, held by our family for generations, felt right.
There’s a lot of pressure on showers now—co-ed, elaborate decor installations, photo backdrops strategically placed everywhere. This family chose differently. They let love be the design and let the land do the quiet work in the background. In the middle of a hot Saturday afternoon in July, they brought thirty-five guests to a space that could easily hold triple that. With rows of vines in full leaf and the white pavilion bright against a natural green backdrop, thirty-five was perfect.
From a distance, our staff could hear it: laughter that carried across the lawns, easy and unforced. Tables were draped simply yet beautifully in ivory linen with soft pink runners. A small flower bar they built themselves. And because intention also looks like support, we added a little extra TLC that day with a dedicated on-site coordinator so the hosts, the loving big sister and soon-to-be aunt, could be present with her baby brother. It matters. The person who plans shouldn’t spend the whole celebration running plates, timing dessert, checking the ice, and missing the moments they came to make.
Space selection can hold memory just as much as aesthetics do. Beauty matters - we believe deeply in beautiful spaces. But choosing where to gather is also a way of deciding how you want it to feel and how you hope it will be remembered. This family chose meaning first, and the rest fell into place.
We didn’t capture too many photos that day. Sorry, there’s no gallery of styled images. But we did capture one short video stitched together by Nalene, our on-site coordinator who hosted the family, and somehow it felt like more than enough: the sound of laughs, the kind of joy you can feel even after it’s over. My hope is they’ll come back with the baby one day and add another chapter here.
Thank you to their family for celebrating with us and to Nalene for taking such good care of them. I can’t be present at every event, but it’s my job to make sure our guests are in the best hands - maybe even better hands than my own. Days like this remind me they are.
